This picture is for my art class in school. Our assignment was to create a narrative piece. Because I was thinking a lot about religions, politics and the question about evil, I decided to do this piece. Here ([link]) is my first sketch for the picture.
The piece shows an suicide bomber. He is dead, but the heavenly light is shining at him and wants to take him to paradise. Why? Because in his opinion he crushed evil with his actions. He killed the sin, represented by the snake in the picture, with his hands and sacrificed himself. Just like Jesus did. However, the girl in the lower part of the picture represents the victims, or at least the friends and relatives of the victims. She is full of sadness and can't see the light around her. She only sees the sin, committed by the bomber. She thinks he is evil, because he killed the in her opinion innocent people. Both of them have their own opinions and beliefs. These beliefs are the reasons for their thoughts, their feelings and their actions. But both do the right things. In their opinions...
That's the actual message of this picture. I don't want to say, that terrorism, suicide, or anything like this is Ok. I really don't!, but I do want to let the viewer think about this aspect of the problem.
Is this a christian piece? I don't have a problem with that at all, but I just wanted to let you know that you have published it in the atheist alliance and it might receive some very negative feedback! Just thought I'd warn you.
no! It's not christina at all. I want to say that Religions give us opinions... Opinions and beliefs, that are right in the view of one special religion, but probably not in others. Religions give us rules and laws that make us do things, that are ok in OUR view. So the cross in the picture only represents another religion, that gives you rules. I don't want to say, that they are any better than muslims or any other religion... Well, that's my opinion. I'm ok, if you have another
