Ok. This picture is twisted...
I have to admit it. I really think that this picture pretty much represents the state of the American people.
Im not from America, but now that I almost lived here for a year, it becomes more and more clear to me, how limited the right are in this country.
However the worst thing, in my opinion, is that the people dont see it. They live their happy life, not able to see further than their own garden.
Im sorry, if some may not like this picture, or the things I say, but it is my opinion and at least while Im here in the (still) free web I have the right to say so. But even this right is in danger now. Not only in America, but in the whole world.
So please stand up and fight for your rights...
PLEASE!

This is true there are so many constraints and limits, Which I dont imd because without them there would be chaos, But thats not the point you can't go around saying that you're a free country when you're just as bad as the government you hate. It goes to show that It doesn't matter what you do the evil will aways rise to the rtop.

Hmm, I guess the national anthem doesn't exactly ring true anymore, huh? "Land of the free"... Nope! I think our new national anthem should be "American Idiot", or something similar.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty
to purchase a little Temporary Safety,
deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

As true today as when Ben wrote it. Visually, I would like the chains to be more distictive, larger; but I like the message that diminutive chains send.

I so agree. And it really, REALLY pisses me off that everyone here doesn't seem to see it! Everyone just scoffs at the idea the government might actually value money over the wellbeing of the American people! GASP! You mean that the government has NEVER placed profit over the welfare of it's citizens? I just want to slap everyone that is blinded by the lie that the government always knows what is best for us. YOU know what's best for YOU, NOT the GOVERNMENT! The American people here are more like sheep that just go where ever our smothering government shepherd decides to herd us, even if that is to the slaughterhouse. Our country that was founded of the people, by the people, and FOR the people has been reduced to a massively indebted powerless puddle run by a CORRUPT, IDIOTIC, PARANOID, AND CONTROLLING government that would like to see all of it's citizens who still believe in civil rights (what a strange belief!) shut up and imprisoned or worse. I don't care if the government sees this. I have refused to remain silent about the corrupt BS going on here. They know who I am by now.
People call me unpatriotic and pessimistic when I try to get them to see what is really going on, but that is not true. I am a realist. A realist who is very dissapointed at the state of her once great country. I love the United States that was founded on the principles of freedom and individual rights, not this censoring and controlling monster that it has become. It greatly saddens me that my country is this way now, and I love living here, because I know how much better I have it than many people, but more and more I want to move away from all of the BS that is dragging America down. I first feel angry, but then I just feel sad. America is my home. But it doesn't feel like one anymore.

Yeah other people see the same things I see
Like there are these laws that don't even make any sense. America doesn't allow gay marriage because 'it's a sin' or 'it's unnatural'? Most of the stuff we have now are unnatural but you allow abortions just because parents don't want to have a child?
The stupid kinds of crap they have. You pay for a bunch of crap but you can't pay for a child's education?
And don't get me started on SOPA.
I like how we are free but we can hardly do anything now. Hell, my family can get poor during the month and have to wait until it's over.
And also, why are famous and rich people getting all of this money and look down upon people who can hardly feed their family? I'm like thinking "They talented should be famous and the rich should donate" and all of these untalented douche bags are getting all of this attention when you have extremely talented people struggling or getting looked down upon.
Man, I hate how it used to be simple and now it's all "Now or lose". I feel completely bad for the people who have a harder time than I do

Y'know some people, SOME call me talented for my age. I'm a deep thinker and I go about thinking all about this. I'm annoyed on how I'm the one being looked down on and I look down on the people who think they are better than me or anyone else. My school is bad in both ways. Kids who are bad and the funds. I hope that one day everything would be better.

Guess who's American :iconsadamericaplz: Is the gov. really stupid enough to cut schooling funds? And why are there so many sex and abortion rules? *coughProp8cough* And what's the deal w/ military censorship and that crap? (Not that I'm in a military family.) *goes on a 4-hour rant*

My point is, sure, it's fine to use laws to protect people. But for everyone who hasn't noticed, that's a totally different thing from telling us not to do stuff like being gay/lesbian just for the sake of homophobia or not say M-rated content just 'cause it's M-rated and obviously not for kids (like it's not common sense to not say M-rated content out loud :iconfacepalmplz:. That's not protection, that's taking away OUR LIBERTY. And if our liberty is taken away, do we as Americans deserve to call ourselves a free country? HUH!? WELL ALL OF YOU MORONS WHO SAID YES ARE OBVIOUSLY WRONG! I'M SURPRISED YOU'RE EVEN ALIVE! Even if I get arrested for putting this up, it feels FANTASTIC that I vented. Everyone who agrees, tell everyone else.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it here, I just feel like the things that make it what it is are being threatened and I wanna stop it.

And one more thing: Which is more powerful? The concept of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, or the UNBELIEVABLY humongous tumor in capitalism? Now which is supposed to be more powerful? Anyone else now wanting to bring back Teddy Roosevelt? My answers: 2nd choice, 1st choice, and yes. Someone explain to me why the rich are getting richer and complaining because they notice and the poor and middle class are getting screwed over because they notice. Great. What's next, are we gonna go commie (no offense) on the rest of the world's asses?

It's almost ironic that the very country that defined liberty doesn't practice what it preaches. Pfft, the damn hypocrites have all the power :iconangryamericaplz: I wanna kill 'em. Oh, how I wanna kill 'em :iconrikascrazyplz::iconrikasreallycrazyplz: (not literally, duh, but you get the idea)

Go on, say what ya think of everything this comment just shoved into your face.

I'm American, and it's plainly obvious to me how corrupt the government and large industries are becoming, and that peoples' rights are being sacrificed to order to be "protected." It bothers me how few people seem to notice this too, but I'm glad to see you've noticed it too.

I live in Canada (Combo-Break wh00t,wh00t) and it always astonished me to see that the land of ''freedom'' was pretty much not free (and also, the lack of free health care in there disturb me...) i'll get you an example :
In all Canada states, gays and lesbians can marry and adopt kids,or have in-vitro kids for lesbians,
In America, there is like...two states who allow gay marriage? and i'm not sure if they can have kids on their own. But cousins can marry in the south, not sure about the north.Just...wat.
---
I don't want to insult America, really, just to say that, well, the land of freedom is not really...free '_' i always found that it was a bit weird :/

I agree with this so much (I live in America). I'm trying to work with some political activist groups to try and gain more rights and eliminate this extremely frightening threat of so many of our rights being taken away.

My one criticism: Alfred is supposed to be wearing glasses. =)

A minority does, including myself and it drives me insane. I'm losing my rights just as I have become the age where I can use them. I wonder if when I haft to leave where I could go. The scary thing is that this oppression is reaching for the East and West all these talks of one world currency and one world government. Its the grand illusion that we all should know is lie. Why do our leaders think we can make it work now? It leaves me to wonder if there is any place left in this world where we can be free. Sorry I just spilled out my heart all over your comment page. Considering the crooks from the last "administration" (Bush, Cheney, Condi, Rummy and Rove). It's not so twisted as much as it is true :X

Then again, Obama has screwed us over badly. To think I supported and respected this guy: [link] [link] [link] [link] Although those insidious sections were drawn up by John McCain and Carl Levin. Sarah Palin would've been the least of our worries if he were elected...

Not to mention the "Patriot" Act hasn't been tossed yet.

And a bunch of punks mock the notion of "hope and change" (in general, not the Obama slogan) for this country and its people. It makes me sick and angry. As far as I'm concerned, those fools can move to Cuba. Guys like them is the reason the USA is going downhill.

Luckily, there's the ACLU, CREDO Action, People for the American Way, Change.ORG etc. I've been involved with them for 2 years, and we've got a pretty good track record. It's still not easy...
